Yay, I got done in time for G-Fest! ^^ Look for a journal soon with a list of name entries so far, and a call for YOUR entry to Name this Diorama! And win a prize! See if you can find all 7 sailors! Hope you like it, and wish me luck in the Model competition at G-Fest in Chicago next week! This will be my Scratchbuilt Model entry.
Vision: I really saw what you were shooting at. I love every bit of this, and also have a suggestion. (That you probably shouldn't take.) I don't know if you've done this before, but next time you experiment with making water bases, you should try putting a glaze on the water. Something like Odge-Podge, though I am pretty sure that stuff is pink. It seems like it would look pretty realistic, and I'd like to see what it would look like.
Originality: I wasn't sure if I should take off points knowing you were using a character that you didn't create and then I realized...First, you put your own spin on Rodan, and second, You were making a recreation of a character and it doesn't look EXACTLY like the old character. If you've seen one of those Neo-Godzilla character drawings, this seems to look like one, and I love that.
Technique: Your technique is GREAT. The fact you could mount a large seemingly bulky model of Rodan on a little humpback whale with what?...3 points holding up the whale is amazing. The water is great looking and I love that the blue quickly bleeds into white on the tips of the water/waves. Rodan himself seems to not have much to him, but still seems to amaze me. I like that you didn't make this TOO much to take in.
Impact: The fact you could pack such a huge punch in a little package like this is beyond amazing. I love this...That's all that needs to be said. This just does something for me that I love about little dioramas like this.
i would truely like to buy this from you . i had a fire and lost all my godzilla and kaiju figures . i am trying to get some things back . please contact me at megalon2010@aol.com to discuse this matter
I sent you an email just now, thanks for the complement! I am so sorry about the fire, I would be so sad if that happened ..I keep an inventory for insurance on my stuff, it is hard to keep up with it..
Thanks..I didnt even know what the trendmasters looks like until I just looked it up? So I guess it must be a coincidence, but to me, they look quite different..
